The eagerly anticipated Airfix 1/48 scale Javelin has been released, and is available now from Hannants. David Hannant has also advised that the two Xtradecal 1/48 scale Javelin decal sheets, which have already sold well, have been reprinted now too.

G.W.H. has announced the forthcoming release of a 1/48 scale F-15B/D Eagle. This kit is due for release in November. 20 images may be found on the Preview page. Thanks to Guido Hopp for the images and information.

We have Preview CAD images of Kitty Hawk's latest forthcoming kit announcement, a 1/48 scale F2H-3/4 Banshee. This is very welcome news - the Banshee is surely one of the great missing links of 1/48 scale aircraft. We'll post more news as it comes to hand.

Maurizio Di Terlizzi has sent eight Preview images and information of Tail Boom's full-sized early Spitfire and Hurricane Spade Grip kit. This is a very limited run production that is available now.
Maurizio is also looking to borrow an original WWII original rocker gun button for cannon-armed Spitfires, to make and cast this additional part to complete the spade grip as Mks Ibs, Vbs, IXs. If you can help, details are provided on the Preview page.

I am very sad to report that Ed Kinney passed away today. Ed was a master modeller and a great guy, whose work may be found in Fine Scale Modeler and here on HyperScale. He was actively involved with IPMS, and was always pleased to talk to and encourage other modellers at shows. My thoughts go out to Ed's family and friends at this sad time.

Barracuda Studios has Preview infomation and images of two new 1/32 scale Tempest main wheels, due for release at the IPMS USA Nationals on 14 August. Nine images are included.
Fundekals has supplied the following interesting information - "it is widely held that Johnny Plagis flew Spitfire ML214 with the codes 5J-K and that is was a presentation aircraft named Muscat (the capitol of Oman). As it turns out, ML214 and "Muscat" are two different aircraft. The famous picture of Plagis in the cockpit of "Muscat" was taken in December 1944. At that time Plagis was flying NH295 5J-E. It is this aircraft that carried his full score of 16 enemy aircraft destroyed. However, there was indeed a 5J-K ser ML214 and Plagis gained his last three kills in it. He also used ML214 to lead the attack on the Gestapo HG at Scrignac in Brittany. Here are some jpegs of the downloadable pdf instructions."

I am very sad to report the passing of Ted Taylor. Ted was widely known and liked, was an inspirational modeller and a truly nice guy who was willing to share his insights with one and all. I am sure that many modellers will fondly recall meeting Ted during his many appearances at British model shows including ScaleModelworld. He will be greatlly missed, and I would like to pass on my sincere condolences to Ted's family and friends. "Ted Taylor's Modelworks" website will of course be retained as an ongoing memorial tribute.
