Eduard's 1/72 scale Ju 88 Late Wheels is available online from Squadron.com
A little like radial engines, defensive guns are often poorly represented in injected kits. This is in part due to moulding limitations, but also it frequently seems that a near enough is good enough attitude has prevailed at the kit design stage when it come to guns. Some guns are more noticeable than others; and I think that WW2 German had-held defensive armament is amongst those that are. So it is pleasing to see Eduard have released some beautifully crafted MG 15s as part of their Brassin range.
The pair of guns come attractively packaged in a blister pack with sponge cushioning. Very clear instructions are included, with colour call-outs cross-referenced to the Gunze Aqueous, Mr Color, and Mr Metal Colour paint ranges. The parts should be very easy to remove from the pour stubs.
Eduard have captured the gun’s characteristics very well, and the quality of casting is exquisite. The spent ammo pouches supplied integrally with the guns, whilst two ammunition drums are provided for each gun as separate pieces. The PE fret provides post and ring sights to garnish each gun (three sets are supplied, so one is a spare). I have used images form Eduard's website.
These are excellent replacement MG 15’s, and definitely recommended.
Thanks to Eduard for the samples.
