Calling all Model Citizens
The Hobby Company launches social media based modelling competition
Tamiya fans to post latest builds on Facebook to win prizes
Aircraft and Military theme competition starts October.
17th September 2021 – The Hobby Company is delighted to announce a competition for modelers to share their passion on social media – Model Citizen.
Starting in October modelers will be invited to post their latest builds from Tamiya on the TamiyaUK Facebook page . The one-month competition will be themed Aircraft and Military and will cover entries covering all items and scales in the respective Tamiya ranges.
The competition is designed to be fair and engaging, entries with the most likes will win the prizes, which allows modeling fans to decide the best entrant in each category.
The Hobby Company Commercial Director Alistair Brebner explains the competition ethos. “Over the past eighteen months, we have seen massive demand for plastic kits as well as an uplift in engagement on our social media channels with our #modelcitizen campaign. During the pandemic and lockdown many turned to building plastic kits as a way of enjoying time at home.
This was either a reconnection with an existing hobby or in many cases we heard stories of people building models for the first time. There was a real sense of community through modeling which has led us to run the Model Citizen competition to allow modelers, both old and new, to share their builds with a chance to win two exciting brand new Tamiya kits. We can’t wait to see the entries and look at the range of skills.”
The mechanism of the competition is straightforward. Entrants will follow the Tamiya UK Facebook page and post images of their model in the competition thread, including the hashtag #modelcitizen.
There will be two main prizes for the best Military and Aircraft item entry.
The new 1/48 scale F-4B Phantom awaits the winner of the Aircraft category with the brand new 1/35 PZ. KPFW.IV AUSF.G Early tank being the prize for the best military entry. Winners will also receive a copy of Shunsaku Tamiya’s Master Modeller: Creating the Tamiya Style.
The competition will also be shared and seen by Tamiya in Japan providing the winners with kudos for their hard work and skills.
