Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat

Tamiya's 1/48 scale Wildcat is available online from Squadron.com

This is Tamiya's 1/48 scale Wildcat backdated to an F4F-3. The differences between the F4F-4 as supplied in the kit and the F4F-3 relate to the cooling flap configuration (F4F-3 had 2 large on the top, F4F-4: 6 small on the top and 2 small on the bottom); only 4 guns in the wings, long pitot probe and the addition of a landing light near the fuselage.

The model is otherwise built straight from the box.

The model is finished with Aluminium Metalizer from Testors. My Wildcat represents an aircraft from USS Ranger, VF-41 Red Rippers. Markings are from the spares box.
