It's time for a SALE-ABRATION!

Dear Friends,

Independence Day is drawing near, and Denise and I would like to draw your attention and prayers to all those patriots who stood up, and in some cases laid down their lives, to gain and preserve the freedoms we enjoy in these United States – and continue to do so today.  If you see a vet or service member over the next few days in particular, thank them, buy them a cup of coffee or their meal, and be grateful that they do what they do – so we can do what we do.

We are pleased to say that this week we received the new Abrams Squad book on Modeling the M551 Sheridan.  Back in stock are several titles, including books on IDF ShermansEgyptian ShermansUSAAF Aircraft Weapons and a host of other titles - browse our pages to discover more.

The winner of our MiniArt K-51 Chevrolet and K-52 trailer kit drawing is John Craft!  John will also be getting a copy of my 448-page Chevrolet G-506 tome, a great reference for anyone building a MiniArt or ICM Chevrolet kit - or restoring a full-size vehicle.  John, to claim your prize, simply email me from the address you used to enter and I'll give you the details.  If we don't hear from John by July 11, the kit will be added to the pile of prizes we will be giving away at the IPMS National Convention Madison July 17-20.  Even if you don't build scale models, this event is worth attending, there are hundreds of amazingly detailed models displayed - plus we will be there with ten tables of books!

For those that are interested in building models of things that fly - today we launch a new drawing, this for the sought-after MiniArt 1/48 scale P-47D Thunderbolt #48029.  A great, and inexpensive reference for this kit is our P-47 Thunderbolt Legends of Warfare book.  Click here to enter for a chance to win this great kit!

The BIG NEWS, however, is we’ve decided to bring back an old favorite promotion to help you celebrate the Fourth.

It’s a simple idea really – buy FOUR publications and get a fifth free! Please read ALL the details so that you can take full advantage of this offer.

This offer is intended to benefit the faithful readers of our newsletter, so to take advantage of this deal, you MUST enter the discount code “HAPPYFOURTH!” during checkout.

Unlike the fast talking/fine print that one sees on the car dealer’s (and drug company) ads, we are straight up with our restrictions and conditions.

  • MUST enter HAPPYFOURTH! discount code during checkout.

  • Offer limited to in-stock items.  In other words – this offer does not apply to books that are “coming soon," or that in any way are not currently in our possession – and that goes for both the purchased books and the free books.

  • Free book is the least expensive of the books.  In other words, you can’t order 4 $9.95 Military Miniatures in Review and expect a $249.95 Son of Sherman book for free!  But you can order five $20 books, and one of those will be free

  • All our normal shipping policies apply – If you live in the US and we get more than $15 of your hard-earned dollars for books, we pay for the shipping.

  • Offer good on each increment of four books. That is – order 8 books, get two more for free, or 12 books, then three more are free.

  • Offer valid only on books sold at the prices shown on the website (that is, our regular discount prices). We’re not raising the prices and then starting a sale, and of course, no other discounts apply.

  • Sale valid until midnight, 7 July, or while supplies last.

And of course we have some really fine print!

First and foremost – because of software limitations, the system won’t automatically do most of these things.  Longtime customers know what is coming next – entering the HAPPYFOURTH! discount code applies a one cent discount to your order, which in turn serves as a reminder to me to refund you the purchase price of the free book.

Thus, you order all five books, pay for all five, and as quickly as possible, and in many cases almost immediately, I will refund you the purchase price of the least expensive item on your order.

Typically the refunds for the overcharges are made within moments (with some exceptions owing to time zones) – however, like most of the rest of you, the days won't be typical - today I take mom for more follow up medical care, and of course we have church on Sunday, and we'll celebrate the Fourth. BUT I will be spending a lot o time at the computer - I've really got to finish a couple of books this weekend - so in most cases you'll get the refund you are due immediately - but your books may not ship until Monday (again, I have to finish writing a couple of books)!

Having to issue the refund is, to put it mildly, awkward and time consuming, and I'd really like to find a better e-commerce platform to make this automatic, but have been unable to so far.  If you are uncomfortable with this arrangement, and for new customers I can certainly understand why you would be, you can send me an email letting me know what you would like to order and I will send you an itemized PayPal invoice for the correct amount (negating the need for the refund).  The hazard of this is, until your payment arrives, the items remain available for others to buy, and some titles are in VERY limited supply, and due to the holiday celebration mentioned above, there could be a delay in the issuing of invoice and adjustment of inventory.

Typed out as above, this sounds much more complicated than it really is.

To recap – one book in five of your order is free now through 7 July!

For those that say "I placed an order just before the sale was announced, I feel slighted."  I would too if I were you, which is why if you look at your credit card/PayPal statement you'll see that appropriate credits were issued to all those who placed orders for four or more books in the 24-hour period before the sale was announced.  Those credits were issued the same day we sent out this sale notice.

Thank you for your support, and remember to honor the sacrifices of all those who won our freedom, and have given so much to preserve it!

Sincerely,
David and Denise Doyle
