Remebering the Bulge
Dear Friends,
This coming Monday, December 16, marks the eightieth anniversary of the launch of Unternehmen Wacht am Rhein ('Operation Watch on the Rhine'), the Ardennes Offensive, which has come to be known as the Battle of the Bulge. Hitler hurled much of his Western reserves at allied forces, primarily the US First Army, who were resting in the Ardennes area of Belgium.
It was during this operation that the Germans deployed several English-speaking troops in US uniforms, driving captured US vehicles - and a small number of Panther tanks which were modified to resemble US M10 tank destroyers.
In recognition of the anniversary of this famed battle, we are offering a special deal on our M10/Achilles Visual History book - FREE with any order with 3 or more of our other publications. To take advantage of this deal, place your order as normal, including the M10/Achilles Visual History book, and enter the discount code BULGE during checkout - which will then make the M10 book free. This offer expires at midnight December 16 and is not valid in combination with any other discount.
It was during this battle, that on 22 December the commander of the US forces in the besieged town of Bastogne, General Tony McAuliffe, gave his famed reply to the German demand for surrender: "NUTS!" As an aside, previously, McAuliffe had been involved in the development of the DUKW.
Today we have received several new publications, including:
Abrams Squad issue 43
AFV Modeller Issue 140
Phoenix Aviation Modelling December 2024
Additionally, this week we have restocked on:
AK Books - both full-size subjects and scale modeling
Ginter Books
Military Modelcraft International
Scale Aircraft Modelling
Warpaint books
Schiffer books
Legends of Warfare
Wings and Wheels Publications
We have also restocked on Dioramag - if you build scale models and have not been reading this publication, you are missing out! The work exhibited on these pages are difficult to describe - the best summary is STUNNING!
In closing - we are running a LITTLE behind on shipping, with orders usually leaving within 24 hours of receipt - though in rare instances this stretches to 48 hours. (We have family obligations this weekend, so will not be shipping Saturday.) And, in most cases the US Post Office is doing a commendable job on delivering the mail - but in a few instances there have been delays at postal distribution centers. The postal website in some cases says that they are waiting on packages - which in fact they have already picked up - and we have even had instances of tracking saying the post office is waiting for the package as they a being delivered to our customers! While frustrating, this is beyond our control.
We remain grateful for your support!
