Scale Aircraft Conversions is a long-standing model company that mainly produces cast white metal replacement undercarriage sets.

Originating in the USA as early as 1990, SAC now has a vast range covering most new releases and back catalogues in all the major scales, even some quite obscure subjects.

Why white metal? Well, white metal parts can be produced in low production runs which is helpful for esoteric types. In some cases extra detail needs to be added to plastic kit parts and once again this medium lends itself to master modification. Also, sometimes the white metal repacements can be broken down more simply than the original plastic parts.

Most importantly the white metal medium is both robust and lends itself well to adjustment after installation.

I have used SAC undercarriage legs on a number of ocassions and they have always made it much easier to fine tune the height, rake and splay of the legs.

SAC continues to expand their range with the following three recent releases:

Item No. 24016 - 1/24 P-47D Thunderbolt for Trumpeter

This is a total replacement of the main undercarriage and tail wheel / strut parts. With the size and weight of this lare scale model, the robust white metal landing gear will be very helpful.

Three quite stout white metal parts are included.

They will be able to be adjusted once glued in place, ensuring main legs and nose strut are in alignment.

Item No. 48494 - 1/48 Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9/11 for Mini Art

This is a simple drop fit replacement for the landing gear of the 1/48 scale Mini Art Fw 190 D-9 / D-11 kits.

The main undercarriage legs are cast in one piece each with oleo scissors cast in place.

The legs will be able to be adjusted for splay and rake once glued in place.

Item No. 32202 - 1/32 de Havilland Hornet F.Mk.3 / PR.2 for DBMK

Here is a complete replacement underrcarriage for DBMKs impressive 1/32 scale de Havilland Hornet F.Mk.3 / PR.2.

The set is made up from nine white metal parts.

The main landing gear are cast one piece each plus retraction struts. Separate detail parts are also included.

Item No. 32201 - 1/32 F-105D/G Thunderchief for Trumpeter

SAC is offering a total replacement for Trumpeter's 1/32 scale F-105D/G Thunderchief landing gear. The set is made up from eleven white metal parts that are made up from main and nose undercarriage gear.

The main landing gear legs are stout. They will have no trouble supporting this big, heavy model.

Retraction struts are cast separately.

Tail wheel strut is in the package too.

In the case of all these releases, metal castings are clean with no obvious pitting and only minor flash that will be fast and easy to clean up with a sharp hobby blade.

Instructions are not included, but they really are not required.
