Eduard BRASSIN PRINT, 1/48 scale

Eduard has released a slew of resin and photo-etched accessories for their recent 1/48 scale P-40 kits.

Undoubtedly the most ambitious of these is their full engine sets.

This offers full side, top and lower engine detail, separate cowl panels and other details delivered in a relatively modest 42 grey 3d printed resin parts.

The engine block, cylinder heads, crankcase and splined propeller shaft are 3d printed as a single piece with impressive, fine detail.

Detail is cast onto the bottom of the engine too.

Two sets of exhausts are offered - fish tail and straight-through. All the stacks are hollowed out and presented as one-piece per side.

The cowl panels feature gorgeous detail inside and out. The characteristic lower engine cooling intakes are equally impressive.

The cowl flaps are another highlight with delicate detail and actuators printed in place. Must be seen to be appreciated.

The package is rounded out with heavily illustrated instructions.

A number of lengths of wire are called out in the instructions. You'll have to source your own wire as they are not included in the box.

This is a big upgrade for Eduard's recent 1/48 scale P-40N kits.

Despite the superb detail present here, Eduard has designed the engine bay to be as simple to build as possible.

I partially built the very similar Bf 109 G-6 engine some years ago and it was a pleasure to work on, I have no reason to expect that this will be any different.
