Hasegawa 1:32 scale
Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-2

Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-2

Description

After finishing Kotare's lovely new 1:32 scale Spitfire Mk.Vb a couple of weeks ago, I decided to build a contemporary adversary.

Hasegawa’s 1:32 scale Bf 109 F-4/Trop, released in 2010, is a considered finale to this long-running family of kits. There is no doubt that this is the best Bf 109 kit in Hasegawa’s 1:32 scale arsenal.

I added a Red Fox instrument panel, a Quickboost early pilot's seat, some Airscale placard decals and a few scratch built details in the cockpit.

I also backdated my Friedrich to a Bf 109 F-2 using the Synthetic Ordnance Works Conversion Set, Item No. CS 1001.

Markings are from Xtradecal Item No. X32067 – Messerschmitt Bf 109 Stab Pt. 2 representing Gruppenkommandeur Hptm Heinz Bretnutz's Bf 109 F-2 of II/JG53, St Omer France, 1941.

The new fuselage, revised cockpit, improved detail throughout, correct spine profile, and reworked nose and propeller components all help to nicely capture the sleek character of the Friedrich.

I was expecting little more than a mild warm-over of Hasegawa’s earlier 1:32 scale Bf 109 G and K kits, but this release is much more than that.

Hobby 2000 recently re-released the Hasegawa 1:32 scale Bf 109 F-2 and F-4 kits. They seem to still be circulating.

Grab one while you can!
