Introduction

The Kokusai Ta-Go was a prototype Japanese kamikaze aircraft of World War II.

It was developed in 1945 as a small, easy to build aircraft that could be built in large numbers in small workshops, and was largely built of wood to reduce demands on strategic materials.

A single example was completed that first flew in June 1945, but the end of the war kept it from entering into mass production.*

Brengun has released a 1/48 scale Kokusai Ta-Go.

This is Brengun's second Ta-Go, the first being a 1/72 scale kit released in 2022.

Underneath the dramatic box art, Brengun's all-new 1/48 scale Kosukai Ta-Go 45 kit comprises 45 parts in grey plastic, one part in clear plastic, the decal sheet with the single prototype's markings and instructions

The plastic is smooth and satin in finish.

Surface textures are simple with a limited number of recessed panel lines plus some nice raised strips on the wings and tailplanes.

Cockpit sidewall detail is moulded in relief on the inside of the full-length fuselage halves.

Cockpit detail is simple but adequate with seats, control column, rudder pedals, instrument panel and foot rails.

There are no harness straps so you're on your own there.

Parts breakdown is conventional with full-length fuselage halves and wings presented as upper and lower, port and fuselage halves.

Horizontal stabilisers are one-piece each side.

As this is a limited run plastic kit, there are few alignment luxuries but just take your time lining up parts before applying glue and you should be fine.

The undercarriage includes spats and wheels moulded as two halves each.

The one piece armoured glass windscreen is clear of distortion. A dip in Future floor polish (or whatever it might be called in your neck of the woods) will improve it further.

On the outside, Bengun has supplied the oil cooler on top of the engine cowling, a 100 kg bomb slung beneath the fuselage, tail support struts, big kinked pitot tube and the propeller.

Marking Options

Decals are nicely printed and in register.

A single choice is supplied for the sole prototype.

The decal sheet includes the option of an overlaied decals for the instrument panel.

Conclusion

This is a straightforward kit of a very interesting subject.

Definitely Recommended.

Thanks to Brengun for the sample
