FirstLook

Arriving in a small, stout cardboard box the five superbly 3D printed parts are well protected with bubble-wrap and inside a zip-lock bag.

The quality of the printing of the engine block is just wonderful with the finest of rods, pipes and cylinder fins crying out for careful painting.

Also included is a new lower oil cowling intake and a pair of fine exhaust pipes to replace the kit ones and a tubular part to attach the block to the kit firewall.

There is a small instruction sheet that explains the alterations to the kit parts whether it is at the Hasegawa or Hobby2000 kit, as well as the difference between this engine and that fitted to the SBD 1/2/3/4 provided in kit 72083.

Just in case you wanted to know, this model has the governor in the vertical position while the earlier variants have it at the one o’clock position when viewed from the front! Now you know!

Such fine detail makes this replacement set a clear recommendation if you have a Dauntless kit in the stash.

Conclusion

This will be a beautiful replacement engine for either of the recommended kits.

Highly Recommended.

Thanks to SBS Model for the samples
