The AN/ALQ-167 Angry Kitten is an electronic warfare (EW) pod used by the U.S. Air Force to jam enemy radar signals. It is flown on several platforms from the F-16 to the MQ-9 unmanned drone. This pod has the same size emitters on both ends making it stand apart from the older 167s that are still being used. The pod is designed to help aircrews develop tactics to counter hostile radar systems.

How it works:
• The pod can generate radar signals and waveforms that are unfamiliar to aircrews.
• The pod can detect how an aircraft's radar system reacts to the fake signals.
• The pod can change the frequency of radar signals to avoid jamming.
• The pod can replicate the radar signal of an incoming Active Radar Homing (ARH) SAM.
How it's used:
• The pod is used to train aircrews to deal with complex electromagnetic environments.
• The pod is used to develop tactics to counter hostile radar systems.
• The pod is used to provide attack capabilities against enemy radio frequency threat systems.
Phase Hanger have given us a well detailed resin 3D printed parts to construct an AN/ALQ-167 “Angry Kitten” Electronic Warfare pod used by the USAF. This pod has been 3D designed by Richard Van Zandt.

The set comes in a plastic bag with a card label inside.

Whilst my set reached me in perfect health, it is somewhat vulnerable to damage in transit. Apart from that, the parts have lovely detail and show no signs of layering. The set is made up of 7 parts, a one pierce body, the 4 emitters and 2 other parts.

This is where we have some issues. Phase Hanger make some superb 3D prints accessories but, as is the case here, with a multiple part set there are no instructions for the correct construction and no decals. This is more the issue here, as this pod has very distinctive and specialised markings which are not readily available as aftermarket sets.
Phase Hangar have given us a well detailed and beautifully printed set. The “Angry Kitten” subject is suitable for several aircraft, which is a good thing. The set is recommended but could do with some decals.

Highly Recommended.
