Silver Wings has provided the following images of their forthcoming 1/32 scale Flycatcher Floatplane kit.

I am happy to share news about our new release – 1/32 Fairey Flycatcher Floatplane – available end of August 2024.

The kit will be offered in three separate boxes, with three types of floats and 5 colorful markings for the following aircraft:

  • Cat. No. 32-024 – wooden float

    • N9908/'2' - Operated as a floatplane from HMS Hermes when on the China Station with 403 Flight in 1926-7.

    • N9889/'8' - 403 Flight, HMS Hermes in 1926-7. The aircraft was later to serve with 402 Flight HMS Eagle, until at least 1930.

  • Cat. No. 32-025 – wooden float with wheel

    • N9664 - The aircraft served as an uncoded floatplane at Kalafrana, Malta.

  • Cat. No. 32-026 – metal float

    • A Flycatcher of 403 Flight during its spell attached to the 5th Cruiser Squadron, made up of HMS Berwick, HMS Cornwall, HMS Cumberland, HMS Kent and HMS Suffolk.

    • S1413 was from the last batch of Flycatchers to be ordered, specifically as catapult aircraft. For this reason, it has catapult spools fitted. S1413 was delivered in 1930, and in 1932-3 served abroad the cruised HMS Cumberland with the 5th Cruiser Squadron.
