FirstLook

Iliad Design of Canada has released a new decal sheet covering the T-33 - Cool Camo T-Birds.

As the name implies, all five options wear camouflage paint - no bare metal to be seen here!

Three T-33s and two Canadian CT-133 are covered on the sheet.

They are finished in a varied selection of varied camouflage schemes:

  • 48-0540 JAWS, 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, USAF Air Defense Command, Keflavik, Iceland, 1975. This is finished in SEA camouflage with Dayglo Orange tail and wing tip tanks with a black and white chequered rudder.

  • T-22A, 56-1601, 2 Squadron, Pakistani Air Force. Finished in overall Greyish Green with red wing tip tanks and rudder. A red wing emblem appears on both sides of the nose.

  • CT-133, 2 Fighter Wing, Royal Canadian Air Force, Grostenquin, France, 1961. Dark Sea Grey and Dark Green with PRU Blue below.

  • T-33A, 9444, AG 51 ‘Immelman’, West German Luftwaffe, June 1968. Luftwaffe grey and green upper surfaces with DayGlo tip tanks.

  • CT-133, 133542, 1 CAG, Royal Canadian Air Force, Baden-Soellingen, Germany, 1990 in wraparound grey and green.

Instructions are offered over a folded A4 sheet in full colour, with one port side plus upper and lower views. Reference drawings and photos.

Decals are printed perfectly on my sample, and colours look good.

Conclusion

These are five interesting subjects for your 1/48 scale T-Birds.

This one has been out of print for quite some time and makes a welcome return - with an extra scheme to boot!

Thanks to Iliad Design for the review sample.
