PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT
A06102A Supermarine Seafire F.XVII
New Schemes – NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER
In an unexpected manoeuvre, Airfix is thrilled to unveil the return of the 1:48 scale Supermarine Seafire F.XVII with three new schemes!
Having not been in the Airfix fleet for over ten years, the Seafire F.XVII makes an explosive comeback with a trio of fresh liveries and 134 parts.
A06102A Supermarine Seafire F.XVII in 1:48 scale features three new decal schemes of the Royal Naval Air squadrons, featuring various armaments, a detailed cockpit, poseable canopy, arrester hook, control surfaces and of course the ability to pose the aircraft with wings folded or open.
This is the first reintroduction of the kit since it was first tooled in 2011 and is due to hit shop floors this month!
Wings open, the complete model measures 210mm in length and width of 235mm. The kit contains 134 pieces.
The F.XVII was the first of the Seafire variants to feature a cut down rear fuselage and distinctive tear drop style canopy, distinguishing it from previous marks of Seafire. Due to reinforcements in the wings, a heavier weapons load was also able to be carried, with both fuel tanks and rockets becoming an option for under the wings. Flying on frontline duties until the early 1950s, it was then relegated to training roles.
Decal Schemes
- Scheme A: Supermarine Seafire F.XVII, No.767 Naval Air Squadron, Royal Naval Air Station
Yeovilton, Somerset, England, 1950.
- Scheme B: Supermarine Seafire F.XVII, No.807 Naval Air Squadron, HMS Vengeance, 1947.
- Scheme C: Supermarine Seafire F.XVII, 1831 Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Royal Naval Air Station Stretton (HMS Blackcap), Cheshire, England, 1947-1951.
We will have more details in the coming weeks.
