This set of decals from Euro Decals for the Trumpeter 1/32 F-100D provides different schemes for 4 USAF natural metal finished aircraft.

 

 

Three of these are based in the USA and one based in Germany.

The smaller of the decal sheets, still 30cm x 11cm, has insignia and data stencils for one aircraft.  These early period jets luckily have a limited number of data stencils compared to later aircraft like the F-4’s hundreds of stencils.

All decal sheets are printed in house by Fantasy Printshop. Having used a set of Euro Decals before, I have found them to have an excellent print quality with great alignments and crisp details.

 

 

They are also easy and fairly forgiving to apply, with them settling into detail well with an application of Micro-Sol (red). The instructions are on 4, double sided heavy paper sheets which are printed in colour with helpful annotated notes where needed. Each page has left and right, side profiles as well as upper and lower views.

 

 

The aircraft in this set are:

  • F-100D, Bu No. 56-3433, 352nd Tactical Fighter Sqn, 354th Tactical Fighter Wing, Myrtle Beach AFB, South Carolina, 1959 - yellow tail and nose decoration.

  • F-100D, Bu No. 56-3404, 27th Tactical Fighter Wing, 832nd Air Division, Cannon AFB, New Mexico, 1959 - rainbow tail and nose decoration

  • F-100D, Bu No. 56-3307, 417th Tactical Fighter Sqn, 50th Tactical Fighter Wing, Ramstein AFB, West Germany, 1959 -red striped tail, drop tanks and nose decoration,

  • F-100D, Bu No. 553775, 615th Tactical Fighter Sqn, 401st Tactical Fighter Wing, England AFB, Lousiana, 1958 -chequered tail and green nose decoration.

Conclusion

 

This is a nice set of large decals from Euro Decals covering 4 great NMF schemes for the F-100D aircraft for the 1/32 Trumpeter kit.  I really like a couple of these schemes, but I only have the 1/48 kit version in the stash, so luckily, they also do this set in 1/48, so it looks like I’ll have to buy a set. These Euro Decals are highly recommended.
