Art Scale Kit has been busy with a lot of new decal releases in the second half of 2023.
Amongst these are their "Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX Part 1 - Greece and Burma".
These 1/48 scale decals should fit any 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk.IXc and IXe kit. The best candidates at the moment are the excellent Eduard kits.
Instructions with reference and four-view illustrations are included.
The instructions are simple but adequate for the colour schemes, although there are a couple of spelling errors, notably Barma instead of Burma
Decal printing quality looks very good. The decals are glossy in finish. Apparently the clear top layer of the decals may be removed after application with lighter fluid, much in the same way as recent Eduard decals.
The three specific subjects are:
-
Spitfire LF Mk.IXc, MH508, 337 Squadron of Royal Hellenic Air Force, used in 1947-1953 period. Finished in overall Aluminium.
-
Spitfire LF Mk.IXe, UB425, Burmese Air Force, ex. IAF (20-42) & ex. CsAF, (JT-10 SL633). Finished in overall High Speed Silver.
-
Spitfire LF Mk.IXe, UB424, Burmese Air Force. Finished in Dark Earth and Dark Green upper surfaces with Light Blue below.
These are nice looking decals that will offer an individualised finish for your 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk.IXc and IXe kits.
Thanks to Art Scale Kit for the samples
