Short SC.7 Skyvan |
The small Short SC.7 Skyvan is an English-made utility vehicle for short distances. With a simple design, it has a fixed tricycle landing gear, a high wing and two turboprop engines. Its curious fuselage has a square shape resembling a van or a box, from which it gained the nickname of “flying shoe box”.
Despite being a little aerodynamic plane, this twin-engine can carry various loads through the large opening at the end of the fuselage that gives this access. This commercial can take up to 19 passengers and as a military plane even a small vehicle. Due to its low acquisition and operating price, it has been ordered by several airlines and air forces around the world.
Assembly
This is a great model from the English brand with good details as an example coming with all seats in the commercial version.
The large access door at the end of the fuselage is movable with the option of being open or closed.
Painting
This model came to be made by the Greek airline Olympic and I ended up choosing to make it by the extinct Brazilian airline Sadia (which later became Trans-Brasil). This company used only one SC.7-200 Skyvan 3 on an experimental basis in 1969.
In this case I used the CCS Brazilian print decal. Its predominant colors are white and natural aluminum with stripes on the fuselage in red and blue.
