Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk SOSU-3 NAS Alameda California May 1945

Here is my completed Halberd Models’ 1/48 scale Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk.

Halberd’s Seahawk floatplane is a conventionally cast resin kit with some detail parts supplied on a photo-etched fret.

Decals for four marking options are also included.

Halberd Models is one of quite a few Ukrainian model companies that are determined to keep working through despite the war raging around them. Amazing really.

Assembly was pretty much trouble free although some experience with resin kits will be helpful.

The model is heavy though, and even though the beaching legs are reinforced with metal, one side of my undercarriage collapsed as I was adding the finishing touches. No collateral damage fortunately.

Lovely kit and an interesting subject.

I’ll be writing this one up as a big article for Issue 216 of Model Airplane International magazine.
