Revell's 1/32 scale
Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2

by Brett Green

Description

Hot on the heels of my Eduard 1/72 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-2 earlier this week, here is my just-completed Revell 1/32 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2.

I added a stack of aftermarket to this one.

I have been stockpiling for this project ever since the kit was released a year ago. I think this is everything:

Eduard:

  • 632185 – Bf 109 G-2/4 Undercarriage Legs

  • JX299 – Bf 109 G-2/4 Masks

  • 632 191- Luftwaffe Rudder Pedals 3d Print

BarracudaCast:

  • BR32122 - Bf 109 F-4 thru G-14 Prop and Spinner

  • BR32155 – Bf 109 G-6 Intake and Exhaust Set

  • BR32171 – Bf 109 G/K Prop & Spinner Alignment Jig

  • BR32224 – Bf 109 G-2 thru G-10 Seat with Belts

  • BR32436 - Bf 109 E/F Main Wheels w Ribbed Tyres

  • BR32448 – Bf 109 F/G Separate Control Surfaces

Yahu Item No. YMA3203 – Me 109 G Instrument Panel

Decals are from AIMS Item No. AIM-32D029 – Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2

…plus some scratch building in the cockpit.

Fit is generally very good, although I always seem to have to wrestle a bit with getting the cockpit between the fuselage and also at the upper wing join. Nothing a few clamps and tape won’t fix.

I have now built four of these new generation Revell 1/32 scale Bf 109 G kits – two G-6, one G-10 and now this G-2. I have enjoyed all of them.

I have so many more Bf 109 projects on the drawing board. I think the next one will probably be Eduard’s forthcoming 1/48 scale Bf 109 K-4, due for release in the coming weeks.
