Eduard's new 1/48 scale
Messerschmitt Bf 109 K-4
by Brett Green
Here is my tenth build for 2023 - the brand new Eduard 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 K-4 Limited Edition boxing.
Check out my detailed in-box review by following this link.
This is a great kit with impressive detail and flawless fit.
It is an all-new kit with many revised parts and redesigned assemblies.
I loved the look of the striking box art so I chose that option. Kit decals were used.
The model was built mostly from the box. Here are the exceptions:
-
Replaced kit rudder pedals with Eduard’s 3d printed resin PRINT Rudder Pedals, Item No. 648778.
-
Removed raised and recessed detail on pilot’s rear bulkhead. Cut new trapezoid hatch from Tamiya 0.2mm Pla Paper (thin plastic sheet).
-
DF loop bent from Tamiya bag staple.
-
FuG 25a IFF transponder antenna and pitot tube cut from light filament.
-
Hydraulic lines added to the main undercarriage legs.
-
.025” plastic rod was used to repair one of the drop tank mounts.
-
Drilled a hole in the top of each wing for undercarriage indicator rods. .020” plastic rod used for the indicators.
-
The top carrier film of the kit decals was removed.
I'll be writing this one up for a detailed article in Issue 220 of Model Airplane International magazine.
Thanks to Eduard for the sample
