Xtradecal has just released a brand new 1/72 scale decal set covering the de Havilland Mosquito B.Mk.XVI. These are intended for the new Airfix kit.

Seven subjects are offered.

Details are as follows:

    1. de Havilland Mosquito B.Mk.XVI ML976, 'KC.L', crewed by Squadron Leader David Shannon and Flight Officer Len Sumpter of 617 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Woodhall Spa, UK, 1944.

    2. de Havilland Mosquito B.Mk.XVI MM199, 'M5.Q', of 128 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Wyton, UK, December, 1944.

    3. de Havilland Mosquito B.Mk.XVI RV927, 'M5.L', of 128 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Wyton, UK, December, 1944.

    4. de Havilland Mosquito B.Mk.XVI MM183, 'P3.A', of 692 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Graveley, UK, November, 1944.

    5. de Havilland Mosquito B.Mk.XVI ML976, 'GB.D', of 105 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Bourne, UK, 1945.

    6. de Havilland Mosquito B.16 PF408, 'HS.J', of 109 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Coningsby, UK, June, 1947.

    7. de Havilland Mosquito B.16 PF498, 'DF.Y', of Central Bombing Establishment, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Marham, UK, October, 1948. This interesting aircraft features a large ventral H2S radar pod.

In all cases except one, the subjects are camouflaged in the Temperate Day Fighter Scheme with Medium Sea Grey lower surfaces and an upper surface disruptive scheme of RAF Dark Green and Ocean Grey.

The exception is PF498 with the large ventral H2S radar pod. This is finished in Night lower surfaces and Medium Sea Grey on the upper surfaces.

An H2S Radar conversioni s available as an after-market accessory from Freightdog Models, although it appears to be out of stock at the moment.

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across a single folded double-sided A4 and one double-sided A5 sheet.

Both side views are provided for all seven subjects plus three sample upper and lower views.

Colour notes are offered, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

The decals are perfectly printed and feature thin carrier film.

This release will offer welcome variety for anyone building the new Airfix 1/72 Mosquito B.Mk.XVI kit.
