Xtradecal has just released two brand new 1/48 scale decal sets covering the Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2. These are intended for the recent Airfix kit.

Today I am reviewing Part One.

Eight varied subjects are offered.

 

Details are as follows:

    1. Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2 XV867, '655/LM' of 736 Naval Air Squadron, Royal Navy, based at RAF Lossiemouth, 1970.

    2. Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2B XV345, 'XV1/2' of XV Squadron, Royal Air Force,
      based at RAF Laarbruch, West Germany, 1979.

    3. Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2 XN977, '230' of 801 Naval Air Squadron, Royal Navy, based aboard H.M.S. Victorious, 1966

    4. Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2 XW550, 'X' of 16 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Laarbruch, West Germany, 1977.

    5. Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2 XV357, '612/LM' of 803 Naval Air Squadron, Royal Navy, based at RAF Lossiemouth, 1971

    6. Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2, XT277, 'H' of 809 Naval Air Squadron aboard H.M.S. Hermes, Royal Navy, 1960's.

    7. Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2 XT281, '281' of unknown Squadron, Royal Air Force, 1981.

    8. Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.50 G-2-1 of South African Air Force 1970s.

Two of the subjects are camouflaged in the overall Satin Extra Dark Sea Grey, one in experimental Squirrel Grey, three in variations of Dark Green and Dark Sea Grey, one in Extra Dark Sea Grey and White and a South African machine in Satin Dark Sea Grey upper surfaces abd PRU Blue below.

 

 

National markings are included for Type D and low viz plus the South African option. Sufficient markings are supplied for seven of the eight options.

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across two folded double-sided A4. The cover is one A5 sheet.

Both side views, upper and lower views are provided for all eight subjects.

 

 

Colour notes are offered, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

 

 

The decals are perfectly printed and feature thin carrier film.
