Replicating a digital or pixelated scheme poses multiple problems for the average model builder.
Such schemes can be painted using just masking tape. However, the same digital pattern is often used more than once on the same vehicle requiring the production of multiple, identically shaped and sized masks or stencils; a lot of work.
For replicating the pixelated scheme worn by the Ukrainian Mig-29 “White 90,” the folks at Foxbot Decals have done all the work for us with this very nice set of die-cut vinyl masks intended for use on the 1/72 Italeri and Trumpeter Fulcrums.
National insignia, aircraft markings, and airframe stencils for “White 90” are available on a companion sheet of decals also made by Foxbot (FD72-027).
In addition to the single sheet of die-cut masks, a two-page, multi-view placement guide is provided.
The scheme colors (6) are listed along with RAL and FS codes for each and the equivalent colors in the Vallejo range.
What’s not to like? The masks are crisply cut and the placement guide is easy to follow. These digital schemes are real eye-catchers but pose a challenge as far as masking is concerned. Both the mask set (#FM-72-008) and the companion decal sheet (#FD-72-027) are available from the Foxbot Decals Website.
