Review Type: FirstLook
Advantages: Well cast and sturdy replacements for a kit’s plastic undercarriage.
Disadvantages: None noted.
Conclusion: This will be a useful replacement set to strengthen a model’s undercarriage, especially in this particular case as this helicopter is a notorious ‘collapser’.

FirstLook

This set of parts comes in a clear bubble pack with a card backing. No instructions are given but the bits will just replace the relevant kit parts. Cast in white metal and designed for the Italeri /Revell kit, this is a six piece set of rigid parts to strengthen the undercart of your model, especially if you have loaded it up with resin and PE material that could over-stress the plastic parts. The Wessex is a notorious model for collapsing its undercarriage to sit flat on the bench - ask me how I know! I presume that these parts will be usable for any of the Matchbox or FROG Wessex kits with minimal modification.

The parts are very cleanly cast with barely a trace of a seam to clean up. The main pieces are surrounded by a large rectangular ‘sprue’ to protect them. Details are sharp and well-defined. There was a slight amount of warping of a couple of parts in the review set but white metal is easy enough to straighten out.

This set comes recommended for those of you who build any of these helicopter kits, but don’t forget to prime the part with a metal primer.

Thanks to Scale Aircraft Conversions for the sample.
