Avia S-199 Engine
for Eduard kit
Eduard BRASSIN PRINT, 1/72 scale
Reviewed by Brett Green
Eduard has released a full engine bay and cowlings for their own 1/72 scale Avia S-199 kits.
This set comprises 14 parts in grey 3D printed resin, one brass plated photo-etched fret with five parts and instructions.
The detail is just remarkable. And yes, this really is 1/72 scale.
The engine block and the cylinder heads are printed as a single sub-assenbly.
The upper cowls are also printed as a single part in the open position. Structural detail on the inside of the cowlings are crisply rendered.
The gun cowl gets the same treatment.
The engine mounts and the cowl gun accommodation is another wonder in one part.
The cowl guns themselved are beautifully detailed.
At the risk of repeating myself, the hollowed-out exhausts, printed as one part per side, are beautiful.
The brass photo-etched fret adds a few smaller detail parts.
Cleanup of the 3D printed parts should be fast and straightforward using a pair of nippers, a sharp hobby blade and a sanding stick.
Instructions are supplied on two folded paper sheets.
This is another beautiful example of Eduard's multimedia and an amazing modelling project in its own right.
This will be a spectacular addition to any of Eduard's 1/72 scale Avia S-199 kits.
And yes, this really is 1/72 scale!
Thanks to Eduard for the samples.
