Recommendation: Installing the SPACE set or the LooK set will result in a busy and highly detailed look in your Eduard 1/48 scale A6M2 Zero cockpit - the choice is yours! The wheels and seats are really exquiste upgrades, and the mask set will also take the pain away from an often unliked modelling task, especially masking the inside surfaces of the canopy frames. These sets will add an extra dimension of detail to your Eduard 1/48 scale A6M2 Zero.

FirstLook

Here are eight new Eduard releases for their own lovely 1/48 scale A6M2 Zero Type 21 kit.

Eduard offers a selection of cockpit and airframe solutions here depending on whether you prefer 3D printed parts, resin or photo-etch, and how deep you wish to detail.

The choice is yours!

Item No. 3DL48050 - A6M2 SPACE

This SPACE set comprises 3D printed decals for the instrument panel, side console, smaller switch panels and placards for the cockpit

The 3D parts have well defined raised switches, bezels and other details as well as crisp printing.

The photo-etched offers half-tone harness straps, chains plus other small details.

Detailed instructions are included.

I have used a SPACE sets a couple of times recently and I have been very pleased with the results.

I found that the 3D decals barely needed to be wet at all before they would slide - or sometimes fall - off the backing sheet. I used Gator’s Grip acrylic glue to secure the 3D printed decals to the plastic kit parts.

Detailed instructions are included.

Item No. 644128 - A6M2 LooK

Eduard has released a "LooK" set for their 1/48 scale A6M2 Zero.

The set comprises the primary and smaller instrument panels cast in resin with colour printed dials, bezels, switches, knobs and more.

Printing on my sample is in register and they are quite convincing!

The lenses of the instruments are finished in a glassy, glossy finish too.

As a nice bonus, this set also includes Eduard STEEL harness straps.

These are more flexible than the standard Eduard photo-etched straps, and they also feature subtle half tones.

Instructions are included in the package.

Item No. 648698 - A6M2 Seat BRASSIN Castless Print

I believe this is a new range for Eduard. This release is a lovely delicate replacement pilot's seat for the Eduard 1/48 scale A6M2 Zero.

They don't come much easier than this. The set comprises a 3D printed seat which is beautifully thin and crisply detailed. Check out the rows of recessed rivets and other raised details.

The seat is attached to its block with multiple fine strips that are very thin and should be easy to cut off and clean up.

Eduard STEEL harness straps are included too.

This is a luxurious throne for your Zero cockpit!

Item No. 648693 - A6M2 Wheels BRASSIN

This is another simple but noticeable upgrade for Eduard's Zero.

The set comprises two one-piece main wheels in grey coloured resin. The wheels are cast with plenty of detail, all crisp, including the radial tread pattern and raised lettering on the tyre sidewalls.

A pale cream coloured tail wheel and strut (all in one piece) is also included.

The package is topped off with wheel masks for the main wheels and the tail wheel.

Another good 'un!

Item No. 11155 - Tora Tora Tora Photo-Etch

This is the standard Eduard's photo-etched fret as supplied in the ProfiPACK or Limited Edition boxings, comprising one pre-coloured fret.

These contain detail parts mainly for the cockpit.

The colour fret supplies instrument panel, side console, smaller switch panels, harness straps and placards for the cockpit.

This set will be particularly useful if you have purchased the stripped down, all plastic Overtrees boxing.

In keeping with the economy nature of this product, instructions are not included. However, you can download them from Eduard's website.

Item No. FE1238 - A6M2 Seat Belts STEEL

Eduard also offers a set of STEEL harness straps by themselves.

Colours look good and the straps feature half tones for realistic shadow areas.

Although the STEEL label makes these sound rigid, they are in fact very thin and flexible.

Detailed instructions are included.

Item No. EX821 - A6M2 TFace Mask

These are die-cut, self-adhesive imasks for the inside and outside of the Eduard 1/48 scale A6M2 Zero canopy.

Instructions are provided.

These represent a fast and accurate solution for a time consuming and often disliked modelling task.

Conclusion

Installing the SPACE set or the LooK set will result in a busy and highly detailed look in your Eduard 1/48 scale A6M2 Zero cockpit - the choice is yours!

The wheels and seats are really exquiste finishing touches, and the mask set will also take the pain away from an often unliked modelling task, especially masking the inside surfaces of the canopy frames.

If you have bougth the Overtrees version of the new Eduard Zero, these sets represent a smorgasboard of detailing possibilities

Any of these sets will add an extra dimension of detail to your Eduard 1/48 scale A6M2 Zero.
