Review Type:

First Look.

Advantages:

Provides better detail of some parts and supplies totally missing parts such as seatbelts etc.

Disadvantages:

Some very fine parts and some very fiddly work with areas such as the tail wheel mount.

Conclusions:

A welcome addition to bring the nice but basic Extra 300 kit to a far better degree of accuracy and detail.

Brengun has produced this photoetched set to go with their release of the Extra EA 300L kit. The 6 x 5cm sheet holds 49 parts. These parts include a replacement main instrument panel with an acetate backing sheet to give you the instruments as well as a small one for the front cockpit.

It gives you detailed seat belts which are obvious through the large frame free canopy, unfortunately missing from the kit.

You are supplied also with the prominent but missing wing tip framing that sticks forward of the wing. I would see these going on toward the end of the build, as they are surely going to get bent if put on earlier due to their fineness. The set gives you the mass balances for the ailerons, the very fine tail wheel framing (take care in adding that) as well a several intake covers. All these parts will certainly make your Extra’s cockpit come alive

The small one-page set of instructions are quite clear in what you need to do but there are no colour callouts whatsoever. You are left to research likely colours yourself but here’s help for the seat which you can see is bright and busy with the complex aerobatic belts. Luckily, in this case, there are plenty of detailed reference photographs of these aircraft for you to access.

Conclusion

All-in-all, this is a nice set to enhance an already nice kit, recommended to the modeller who wants a bit more detail in his/her model.

Thanks to Brengun for the review sample.
