IPMS Vancouver Show 2022

After a two-year COVID enforced hiatus, the IPMS Vancouver Fall Show returned on October 8, 2022. Held each year at the Bonsor Community Center in Burnaby, British Columbia, the Vancouver Fall Show is one of the highlights of the Pacific Northwest modeling scene and is always a fun show.

Once again, we departed the Seattle area in the dark and met up at a local Denny’s. Parking is always tight at Bonsor, so we left quickly after scarfing down our breakfast. Thankfully, all was right in the world, and we got a good space (Thanks for driving Tim!). We quickly headed upstairs and entered our models in the show and checked out the two vendor rooms. With the Canadian dollar at a low, some good deals were to be found. I got an amazing deal on a I (heart) Kit Montgomery Grant.

As more and more models were entered into the show, it became apparent that not only was the quantity at an all-time high, so was the quality. It has been a long time since I’ve been to any show in which there was more modern armor entered than WW2 German subjects. The photos are just a few of the many models at the show that caught my eye. I never got a final tally of models, but I’m sure the judges had a hard time selecting the winners.

Vancouver always has a good raffle, set up on stage in the model room. Even though I bought a ticket, my luck ran out with the good parking space, as I didn’t win the Border 1/32 Lancaster.

After the awards were announced, we made our usual trip down to Rumble Street to visit Burnaby Hobby and then dinner at a local White Spot.  Returning home about 1am on Sunday, I was exhausted, but had big fun at the show.
