Eduard's 1/48 scale
A6M2 Zero Type 21 #2
by Paolo Portuesi
Here in Italy we are used to say that appetite comes with eating, and that turned out to be quite true with this Eduard 1:48 Dual Combo Limited Edition Zero. Just few days ago, while I was still working on my first Zero, I felt the need to immediately start the second one, so flawless and fun was the building process and so much I was focused on one of the most important aircraft ever.
In addition, building more than one of the same kit has obvious scale economies advantages and it gave me the opportunity to enjoy more of the same beautiful molded sprues and incredible accessories released by Eduard, like the masks Face and the Brassin seat and wheels.
As for the paint, I went for the AK Real Color 303 amber gray just a bit lightened with one fifth of white paint from the same range. The camouflage typical of this version is quite straightforward, doesn't require much effort. The same it is true about a weathering that in this aircraft should be minimised, given these aircraft being new on December 7, 1941, the day of the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor.
The decals are out of the box. They react well to the usual softening and setting agents and can be peeled off, for a more painted on look.
In the end, I am looking forward to more versions of this aircraft from Eduard.
Soon, I hope!
