Scale: 1/48 (also available in 1/72 scale)
Review Type: One sheet of decals (19 x 11cm) and three glossy A4 double-sided cardboard poster/instructions.
Review Type: First Look
Advantages: Outstanding production and presentation with an interesting addition of the framable prints. Well-printed, great density and register and excellent research of the subjects.
Disadvantages: Rather flimsy sleeve once opened.
Conclusion: Decals are beautifully printed, with negligible carrier film in gloss finish, while colour density appears to be excellent and register is perfect. I commend this sheet to any modeller of these aircraft in 1/48 for its quality production and presentation.

This is a new company to me but judging by the quality of the product they have a great future. I believe they hail from Poland and appear to produce a range of interesting decals in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 and are worth looking at through their site at www.exito.site.

This sheet is also available in 1/72 as 72011 if you are interested.

I am most impressed with the manner of presentation, with the decals and information material backed with a very solid card sheet inside a resealable thin plastic sleeve, which unfortunately split very easily when I opened it - might be worth replacing with a zip-lock bag methinks.

Each aircraft is given a high quality coloured A4 double-sided poster with, one one side the two side views and, on the rear, a mass of photos, drawings, colour and decal placement information. It is suggested that the modeller might like to frame these for display and they are certainly of sufficient quality to do this. Exito claim that none of these aircraft have been represented in decal form before.

The three aeroplane covered on this sheet are:

  1. P51D-25-NA , 44-72640, ‘501’ of the 457th FS / 506th FG Iwo Jima mid 1945, Natural Metal and green empennage and the lovely ‘Margie’ au natural (very) on the port side,

  2. P-40N, unknown serial, coded ’47’ of 8th FS / 49th FG, New Guinea late February 1944, in OD/NG with a white tail and an athletic nude ‘Mary Lou’ on the port lower nose, and

  3. P38L-5-LO, 44-26490, ‘E’ of the 36th FS / 8th FG at Ie Shima in middle-late 1945, in natural metal overall with a naked lass named “Jean Creamer” (!) on the nose.

Decals are beautifully printed by Cartograf, with negligible carrier film in gloss finish, while colour density appears to be excellent and register is perfect.

Conclusion

I commend this sheet to any modeller of these aircraft in 1/48 for its quality production and presentation.
