Contents and Media:

Resin and photo-etched parts; self-adhesive, die-cut masks for clear parts and wheels; instructions

Review Type: FirstLook
Advantages: High level of detail that will result in a highly detailed Gustav; easy installation with no small fiddly bits; ideal for Weekend and Overtrees editions of the Eduard 1/48 scale Bf 109 G-6; also applicable to Bf 109 G-14.
Disadvantages:
Recommendation: The use of the resin and photo-etched parts will result in a better detailed Gustav. The masks will save you a lot of time and add sharp precision to the clear parts too! This will be an especially useful upgrade for Eduard's Bf 109 G-6/14 kits in their Weekend and Overtrees editions. The package represents good value too compared to the sum of the individual parts (USD$24.95 vs. $38.80).

FirstLook

Eduard has combined a number of popular upgrade sets for their own 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 kit in their new LooK Plus package.

This will be especially useful for the budget Weekend and Overtrees editions of the kit. It will also be applicable to Eduard's 1/48 scale Bf 109 G-14 kits.

The parts are packed into a small but stout cardboard box.

First up is a set of replacement resin exhausts. Detail on the exhaust mounts is very crisp. Each stack has a weld bead cast on place and of course they are hollowed out at the end.

A set of photo-etched exhaust shrouds is also included.

Next is a set of resin main wheels. These feature covered hub and cross treaded tyre. Once again, detail is very nicely done. The tyres are subtly bulged and flattened.

Into the cockpit, we find a pre-painted LooK instrument panel. This is a three-dimensional panel with detail printed onto the dials and switches.

Further supplementing the cockpit is a set of Eduard STEEL harness straps. The STEEL series is more pliable than the older traditional photo-etched straps, and they are also printed with nice half-tones.

Rounding out the package is a set of die-cut, self-adhesive masks for the canopy and wheels.

These deliver a fast and accurate solution for an often disliked modelling task.

Conclusion

This will be an especially useful upgrade for Eduard's Bf 109 G-6/14 kits in their Weekend and Overtrees editions.

The use of the resin and photo-etched parts will result in a better detailed Gustav. The masks will save you some time and add sharp precision to the clear parts too!

The package represents good value too compared to the sum of the individual parts (USD$24.95 compared to the full price of $38.80).
