Recommendation: The use of the Zoom photo-etched fret will result in a noticeably better detailed Il-2 cockpit. The masks will save you a lot of time and add sharp precision to the clear parts too! These are very useful upgrades for your new Zvezda 1/48 scale Il-2.

Eduard has wasted no time producing a range of accessories for the new Zvezda 1/48 scale Il-2.

Tonight I review what I think are the two most useful of this new batch.

 

FE1145 - Eduard Zoom Il-2 for Zvezda Kit. USD$14.95

 

 

Even the entry-level Zoom series offers super detail with one colour photo-etched fret providing detail focused on the cockpit.

 

 

Specifically, the set includes a new multi-part coloured instrument panel, side consoles, ring and bead gunsights, swithces, knobs and more.

In my opinion this represent good value.

This is a compact but noticeable update to the new Zvezda 1/48 scale Il-2.

 

EX749 Masks Il-2 for the Zvezda kit. USD$10.95

 

 

Die-cut, self-adhesive masks for the canopy and wheels.

 

 

These represent a fast and accurate solution for a time consuming and often disliked modelling task.

I assume that the distorted images on the instructions are a new security measure to prevent people from simply photo-copying a downloaded copy of the diagrams onto tape.

 

 

Conclusion

 

The use of the Zoom photo-etched fret will result in a noticeably better detailed Il-2 cockpit.

The masks will save you a lot of time and add sharp precision to the clear parts too!

These are very useful upgrades for your new Zvezda 1/48 scale Il-2.
