Review Type:

First Look.

Advantages:

High level of detail; perfect casting; straightforward assembly.

Disadvantages:

Conclusions:

This is a highly detailed upgrade for your 1/72 scale Revell (or Eduard boxing) Tornado GR.1. If you have a Revell 1/72 scale Tornado GR.1 in your stash, this is a no-brainer. Eduard's BRASSIN cockpit will be an instant and obvious enhancement.

I missed out on the Eduard "Desert Babe" release with its photo-etched instrument panels and resin seat and wheels, so I bought a Revell Tornado to pair up with this cockpit.

But even if you managed to get hold of the 1/72 "Desert Babe" boxing, you might consider this cockpit set anyway if you prefer the alternative approach of more resin and less photo-etch.

FirstLook

Eduard has released a multimedia BRASSIN cockpit for Revell's 1/72 scale Tornado GR.1. This kit has also been released recently by Eduard in their "Desert Babe" rebox, so it will fit that kit too.

Eduard's full replacement cockpit lifts the detail in the front office to another level.

Eduard's BRASSIN 1/72 scale Tornado GR.1 cockpit comprises 17 parts in grey resin, one colour printed photo-etched fret, a small decal sheet and detailed instructions.

The main cockpit tub is supplied in a single piece with raised side console detail cast in place. I also like the textures cast onto the rear bulkhead - also integrated with the one-piece tub.

Other resin parts include instrument panels, radar, mid bulkhead and control columns.

Casting is perfect and detail is excellent.

The seats are supplied as four resin parts each plus photo-etched parts for harness straps, pull handles and other details. The detail of the sides and rear of the main seat catings is a wonder to behold. Yes, this really is 1/72 scale.

The smaller parts are cast onto narrow casting points. These will be fast and easy to remove. A little more effort will be required to free the cockpit tub from its casting block, but nothing that will intimidate anyone used to working with resin parts.

The colour photo-etched fret supplies half-tone printed harness straps, pull handles, rudder pedals and other fine details.

Decals are provided for stencil plates, instruments and more.

Printed acetate gunsight reflectors are included too.

Instructions are supplied in colour.

Conclusion

This is a super-detailed upgrade for your 1/72 scale Revell (or Eduard boxing) Tornado GR.1.
