Hamilton Standard Propellers PREVIEW
Bitskrieg, 1/48 scale
Bitskrieg has sent Preview information and images on a new family of 1/48 scale Hamilton Standard propeller sets:
As long as I can remember the Hamilton Standard propeller was an "Achilles Heel" of the kits that included it - and there were quite many of those. B-17, B-25, PBY Catalina, A-26, Ventura, A-20 Boston/Havoc, Avenger, Dauntless, F6F Hellcat, Corsair, C-65, C-47, B.Beaufighter… and many other.
None of the kits of these aircrafts had it accurately made.
In fact, it wasn’t only a matter of how precisely or not were the designs prepared, lack of the reference materials, but mostly because of the limits of injection molds technology, which forced the manufacturers to simplify these details.
With the help of new technologies, original assembly instructions and reference pictures we have managed to replicate the propeller with unprecedented accuracy.
The new production line will begin with two types of the hub: HS23E50 & HS23E50a, with blades 6501A-0/6541A-0, which were used on F4-U1A/D Corsairs and F6F Hellcats. The first kits will be designed for 1/48th scale.
With our new kits we will introduce an innovative method of attaching the propeller assembly to the model kit. It will not only be possible to spin it after installation, but also make it very easy to replace it in already built models.
The hub we have prepared is printed in 10um resolution, which result in perfects curvature and invisible layers. The blades on the other hand are designed with extra focus on the original intersections and thickness, and combined with high quality resin they are casted in, the effect is almost identical as in scaled real life counterparts.
