Bf 109 G-6 Upgrades
for the Revell kit
BarracudaCast, 1/32 scale
Reviewed by Brett Green
BarracudaCast has returned to one of its favourite subjects with three new releases for Revell's 1/32 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 and G-10 kits.
Please note that my studio lights have washed out lot of the fine recessed and raised detail on the resin parts, but they look great in real life!
BR32157 - Bf 109 G-6 Upper Gun Cowling (Standard)
The space between the gun troughs on Revell's 1/32 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6/14 kit on the upper cowl is too narrow.
BarracudaCast has released a resin replacement upper gun cowling with the pressed gun troughs typical of standard Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6.
The spacing, details and dimensions of the troughs have been corrected on the new resin part.
Cleanup should not be difficult. A spine is cast onto the inside of the cowl and this will need to be carefully cut off.
Illustrated instructions are included.
BR32158 - Bf 109 G-6 Upper Gun Cowling (Erla)
Next up is a corresponding upper cowl for Bf 109 G-6s produced at Messerschmitt's Erla factory at Leipzig.
This differed in having separate gun trough panel inserts with an elongated tear-drop shape rather than the angular pressed troughs fitted at other factories.
Don't confuse this with the Revell G-10 Erla kit. This cowl is for the G-6 kit.
BR32448 - Bf 109 Separate Control Surfaces
The control surfaces on the Revell 1/32 scale Bf 109 G kits feature prominently raised stitching and raised circles - I presume they are supposed to be inspection points.
BarracudaCast has released a set of replacement control surfaces with more subtle rib tape and stitching texture. They have supplied elevators, ailerons and the small-style of rudder.
The raised circles are eliminated, and the trailing edges are much thinner than the kit parts too.
These will be close to a drop-fit replacement for the kit parts.
These are all high quality replacement upgrades for Revell's Bf 109 G-6 kit.
