P-40L “Duchess of Durham IV” |
This is my 1/32 Hasegawa P-40L wearing the markings of Duchess of Durham IV (42-10436), Italy 1943.
I have used Grey Matter Aviation P-40F/L conversion set. The base kit is Hasegawa’s P-40M.
My reference for this project was Kagero Topdrawings' Curtiss P-40 book.
According to the information in the Kagero book:
"This fighter was flown by Capt.Bruce Hunt in Cercola-Italy November 1943. The pin up girl on the radiator intake and the aircraft’s name above the exhaust stacks were added when the Warhawk was flown by Capt. Ralph G.Taylor from the 325th FG, the yellow black checkerboard on the tail and the fuselage code (“13”) were painted over. Minor scuffs were touched up using Dark Olive drab paint. Yellow diamond representing 314th FS was most likely added on the starboard side of the radiator intake. The intake’s front edge either white or in natural aluminium finish."
I used Eduard photo-etched instrument panel and seat belts in the cockpit.
Paints are Gunze Sangyo acrylics.
I also added Master Model gunsight and Eduard resin wheels.
I used some parts of the Zotz Decal set. National insignia are from my spares box.
Happy modelling!
