This is a soft-cover modelling guide to super-detailing any kit of the Arizona as she appeared in Pearl Harbor on that fateful day.
To quote the rear cover “Rivercounter books from Pacific Monograph are simple, detailed guides for enthusiasts and modellers of military subject.” This is a sixty-eight page A5 booklet, largely in B&W but with coloured covers which covers with great detailed close-up photographs the 1/96 scale model of Arizona commissioned in 2007 by the US National Parks Service from the master modeller Don Preul and, I presume, displayed at the Pearl Harbor museum.
There are some 125 detailed photographs, with good captions and often showing an area from different angles. I can imagine that these will be of enormous interest and benefit to anyone building any of the numerous kits available, although adding this amount of detail to a 1200 scale one will test all but the dedicated miniaturist!!
The small downside is that the model was still not absolutely complete at the time of photographing but the tiny number of missing bits are pointed out in the captions.
This will be very handy little book for the marine modeller and is small enough to fit easily on a modelling bench for reference.
