Sabre Model is a new conpany that produces resin figures and plastic military kits.
They have have sent their soon-to-be-released 1/48 scale figure set, "Doolittle Raid April 18, 1942 Part A Lt. Col. J.H. Doolittle & USAAF Pilot".
The set comprises two figures packed inside separate ziplock bags in a small but very sturdy cardboard box.
One is Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle in flying gear and crush cap.
The second is another raider pilot with a clipboard.
Sculpting is very good and the poses are quite universal. Even though they will fit perfectly in a pre-launch Doolittle Raid scene on the fligth deck of the USS Hornet, the figures could also be used to represent generic WWII USAAF pilots.
Both figures are cast as a single piece. The only cleanup required is a single small strip on the bottom of each shoe.
Casting quality is perfect on my samples.
Sabre Models has also included two small decal sheets with the serial number, under-wing :U.S. Army" lettering and the red dots for the national markings.
The yellow looks a little bright to my eye, but all is good apart from that.
Just by adding a section of USS Hornet's flight deck, Sabre Model's 1/48 scale Doolittle Raid pair will be a nice way to create a historical scene..
Thanks to Sabre Model for the sample
