Hypersonic Models has released an upgrade set for Zoukei Mura's 1/48 scale Phantom kits that will improve the appearance of the stabilator mounts and allow the stabs to be posed at different pitches.

A set of four fish plates is also included in this set.

Hypersonic Models' 1/48 scale F-4 Phantom Stabilator Upgrade Set comprises five parts in grey resin, ten photo-etched parts and detailed instructions.

You will neeed to conduct some precise surgery on your Z-M Phantom before installing the conversion parts. First you will need to remove all the raised detail associated with the stabilator cover plates, then you will use the supplied resin marker tools to scribe an outline around its perimeter. Next, you will cut out all the plastic inside the newly scribed line.

Once this is done the rest of the conversion will be relatively straightforward. A resin plug is inserted into the new opening, and this may be posed at different angles. Once the plugs are glued at the desired angle, the photo-etched detail parts and the stabs themselves are then added.

Instructions are very clear, including text and helpful images.

Casting quality of the resin is very good.

Hypersonic Models' Stabilator Upgrade Set will allow you to customise your Zoukei-Mura with offset stabilators and a more accurate depiction of the stab mounts.

This upgrade will be best suited to experienced modellers due to the precise cutting involved.
