Tall Tailwheel Sets

BarracudaCast, 1/48 & 1/32 scales

BarracudaCast is the resin accessory arm of Roy Sutherland's Barracuda Studios enterprise.

BarracudaCast has just released two tall tail wheel sets for Bf 109 late G and K kits, one in 1/48 and one in 1/32 scale.

These will be suitable for all Bf 109 G-10 and K-4 kits, but the tall tail wheel could also be seen fitted to the Bf 109 G-6/AS and Bf 109 G-14/AS. Check references for specific subjects.

Each set includes two tail wheels - one with radial tread and the other smooth.

The new resin tail wheels are beautifully detailed. I particularly like the treatment of the raised seams on the smooth wheels.

Intricate detail is cast onto the both faces of the hubs too.

Each wheel is supplied with the bottom of the tyres subtly bulged and flattened.

Casting and detail is up to BarracudaCast's usual high standards on my samples.

The lost wax cast brass struts are lovely. The material is quite soft so it will be easy to spread the fork and fit the tail wheel. Barracuda's instructions show you how to use a shim to maintain a small gap between the tyre sidewall and the fork.

The specific mounting of the strut may differ from kit to kit, but intallation whould be pretty straightforward regardless.
