F6F Hellcat Replacement Wheels - Two Styles

BarracudaCast is the resin accessory arm of Roy Sutherland's Barracuda Studios enterprise.

BarracudaCast has released two sets of resin replacement wheels for the recent and spectacular Airfix 1/24 scale F6F Hellcat.

The new resin wheels are crisply detailed. Both sets have raised lettering detail on the sidewalls.

Each wheel is supplied with the bottom of the tyres subtly bulged and flattened. The casting blocks look quite manageable and should be fast and straightforward to remove and clean up.

The wheels feature details hubs and separate hub caps. There is a fine layer of flash between the spokes of the hub caps that will need to be carefully removed with a sharp hobby blade.

The tiny raised cast lettering on the hub caps is truly remarkable.

Casting and detail is up to BarracudaCast's usual excellent standards on both of my samples.

Specifically, the two replacement resin wheels sets are:

BR24412 - F6F Hellcat Diamond Tread Wheels

These were the tyres most commonly fitted to the Hellcat.

BR24413 - F6F Hellcat Cross Tread Wheels

Cross tread tyres were not as common, but were used widely in the Fleet Air Arm and USN as well.

These are both simple yet highly desirable finishing touches for your big 1/24 scale Airfix Hellcat.
