Eduard's 1/32 scale
Messerschmitt Bf 108 B-1 Taifun

by Brett Green

Messerschmitt Bf 108 B-1 Taifun

Meng's 1/48 scale F-35A Lightning II is available online from Squadron for USD$59.99

Description

Here is my latest completion -I have just finished Eduard's new 1/32 scale Messerschmitt Bf 108.

This is not an Eduard tooling, but a kit that was picked up by Eduard from a company called Striped Fighter. Quality is good, the cockpit and engine are nicely detailed, fit is generally great, and construction will be within the capability of any modeller with a few kits under their belts.

I built the model almost straight from the box. Eduard includes their colour photo-etched parts and a resin spinner and propeller, so you don't need much more, but I did replace the landing light lens with a 4.5m reflective lens from Little Lenses (ooh, actually I did add some paper maps for the map pockets too).

The code letters are from Fantasy Printshop and the finish is based on a wartime photo.

The figures are from Wings Cockpit:

  • Item No. Luft 05A – Benoit Cauchies’ Luftwaffehelferin 1941-45 and

  • Item No. Luft 05B - Benoit Cauchies’ Luftwaffe Pilot Relaxed 1939-45.

I'll be writing this one up in detail for Model Airplane International magazine, Issue 181.
