Xtradecal continues to stride alongside Airfix's brisk release schedule. Amongst their newest batch of decals is one more set for the Hawker Hunter F.6 in 1/48 scale.

I am examining the fourth instalment in 1/48 scale focusing on foreign operators. Six Hawker Hunters of various Marks (but all based on the F.6 and FGA.9) are covered.

A particularly wide selection of schemes and finishes are available here - greys, greens, browns and some striking national and tactical markings.

Details are as follows:

  • F.56 BA360A 20 Sqn/Target Towing Flight Indian Air Force Kalaikunda AB West Bengal India 1972;

  • F.6 660 4 Sqn Iraq Air Force H-3 Air Base during ‘Operation Moked’ Iraq 1967;

  • FGA.70 L175 Lebanese Air Force during ‘Operation Moked’ Iraq 1967;

  • F.6 60-602 5 Sqn Royal Saudi Air Force 1969;

  • FGA.9 RRAF121 1 Sqn Royal Rhodesian Air Force Thornhill AB Rhodesia 1967;

  • FGA.9 R1821 1 Sqn Royal Rhodesian Air Force Thornhill AB Rhodesia 1972.

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across two folded double-sided A4 and one double-sided A5 sheets.

Both side views plus upper and lower views are provided for all six aircraft.

A selection of national markings is included.

Colour notes are offered, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

The decals are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film.

This release will be very welcome for anyone building the new Airfix 1/48 scale Hawker Hunter F.6, or who has the old Academy kit stashed away.
