Exito Decals Item No. ED48004 - 1:48 "Luftwaffe Ground Attackers" Vol. 1, €11.78

plus shipping available online from Exito's website

Review Type: One sheet of decals (19 x 11cm) and three glossy A4 double-sided cardboard poster/instructions.
Review Type: First Look
Advantages: High quality research and artwork; perfectly printed by Cartograf; three different subjects.
Disadvantages:
Conclusion: This is a gorgeous set of decals with three pieces of frameable artwork. I like the themed anthology approach. It seems to me that you are more likely to build one of each of these subects than eight markings for the same subject. The quality and research is obvious too.

Exito Decals is a relatively new company that is building a reputation for thorough research and high quality frameable artwork.

Exito Decals entered the market in 2018 with two sets of German Bf 109 and Fw 190 decals available both in 1/48 and 1/72 scale.

This year they have released two further sets including “Sexy Spitfires” in both 1/48 and 1/72 scales, reviewed recently on HyperScale by David Couche.

Today I am examining their fourth release, "Luftwaffe Ground Attackers" Vol. 1. This covers three different Luftwaffe ground attack aircraft - a Junkers Ju 8 D-3, a Henschel Ns 129 B-2 and Focke-Wulf Fw 190 F-8 - and they are available in either 1/72 or 1/48 scales. Tonight I am looking at the 1/48 scale set.

The set comprises an A4 cover sheet plus three A4-sized glossy cardboard sheet in landscape formats. The front of each sheet features two side views of one aircraft and a brief description at the bottom of the page. These are high-quality frameable artworks.

The rear of each cardboard sheet offers upper plan view, scrap views, historical photo (Stuka only), additional notes, colour callouts, references and assistance for decal placement.

The lovely illustrations are the work of Janusz Swiatlon.

Details of the three subjects are:

  • Junkers Ju 87 D-3, W.Nr. 100082 (Stkz. BP+DD), coded T6+HN of 5./StG. 2, Achtirskaya, USSR, early summer 1942.

  • Henschel Hs 129 B-2, W.Nr. 0140405, coded <?+H of 4.(Pz)/Sch.G. 1, USSR, summer 1943.

  • Focke-Wulf Fw 190 F-8, coded Winkel Dreieck, flown by Maj. Theodor Nordmann, Kommandeur of II./SG 3, Riga-Spilve, Latvia, August 1944.

The Cartograf decals are as well presented as you would expect with perfect registration and printing.

Some maintenance stencils are supplied for the Hs 129.

Thanks to Exito Decals for the review sample
