are available online from Squadron.com

FirstLook

Eduard released a slew of resin and photo-etched accessories for its Bf 109 G family.

Undoubtedly the most ambitious of these are their full engine and fuselage gun sets. Last week we reviewed the set for the G-10/U4 kit.

Eduard has also released a subtly different engine and cowl gun set for the Bf 109 G-10. This offers full side, top and lowerengine detail, a complete cowl gun bay, upper and lower engine and gun cowls.

Eduard's BRASSIN 1/48 scale Bf 109 G-10 Engine comprises around 85 parts in grey resin, one brass plated photo-etched fret and a small decal sheet with engine numbers.

The engine block is cast in a single piece with impressive detail.

Detail is cast onto the bottom of the engine too.

The cowlings feature gorgeous detail inside and out. The lower engine coling is equally impressive.

The unique G-10 engine bearers are separate parts. The cowl guns and their mounts are cast as a single part each with blast tubes in place.

The front of the engine firewall and the base for the cowl guns are cast with an intricate network of wiring. These should look fantastic with some careful painting and weathering. The supercharger is equally well detailed.

The exhaust stubs are separate parts and are hollowed out at the ends. They don't look as tall and toothy as the kit parts, probably the most obvious lingering nitpick of Eduard's Bf 109 family, so this is a nice bonus correction!

Remaining resin parts include the splined propeller shaft, upper gun cowl and other details.

The photo-etched fret offers scale-thickness exhaust shields and small detail parts.

A small decal sheet with placards, a number jungle and larger "D" for the DB605 engine are included.

The package is rounded out with heavily illustrated instructions.

Conclusion

This is a massive upgrade for Eduard's recent 1/48 scale Bf 109 G-10 kit.

Despite the superb detail present here, Eduard has designed the engine bay to be as simple to build as possible.

I partially built the very similar Bf 109 G-6 engine a few years ago and it was a pleasure to work on, I have no reason to expect that this will be any different.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
