Albatros D.II

Albatros D.II

Eduard's 1/48 Fokker D.VII ProfiPACK is available online from Squadron.com

Description

Here is my Roden 1/72 scale Albatros D.II.

Overall, this kit is well detailed but maybe because of Roden wants use as much different parts for different subtype of their Albatros series, the fit of the front fuselage and engine cowling is not easy.

This biplane was painted as the Oblt. Rudolf von Szepessy-Sokol’s plane according to the kit’s instruction.

The wood texture on the fuselage was achieved by using Tamiya’s XF-57 Buff as the first layer followed by Burnt Sienna and Raw Umber oil paint from Winsor & Newton to built up very thin stripes in each wood panel respectively as the second layer,. Finally, a layer of GSI GX100 gloss super clear was applied to protect the previous layers.
