Airfix has produced a range of Harriers since 1991. The Harrier Gr.7A/Gr.9A new tooled kit was released in 2011. CMK has now produced a number of resin upgrade sets for both the 7 and the 9 versions. The cockpit and engine sets are the latest of these upgrades from CMK.
7362 – Cockpit set for the Harrier Gr.Mk.7A (for Airfix kit)
This set comprises of 10 grey resin parts, crisply moulded and well detailed, requiring very little clean up.
It consists of a new cockpit tub, an ejection seat with seat belts moulded on to it, instrument panel, cockpit coaming, rear cockpit upper panel as well as some other smaller parts.
This set will certainly lift the level of detail in the nice Airfix Harrier. This kit may fit into the early Airfix offerings and with some tweaking, into the Revell, Italeri and Heller kits.
7363 – Engine set for the Harrier Gr.Mk.7A (for Airfix kit)
Here is a lovely, well detailed and crisply moulded engine set of the Harrier Gr.7a, if you really want to go to town on the detailing.
This set consists of 13 grey resin cast pieces, It gives you the option to display the upper fuselage maintenance panel open, with the jet engine visible.
It comes with all the parts to create the fuselage section, with forward and aft walls, ribbing and separate panels supplied. A very neat and detailed engine is supplied. All this needs is some wiring to make it really complete.
Whilst designed for the latest Airfix offering, and as mentioned above, this may fit into any of the various 1/72 Harrier Gr.7A kits with some modification.
Both of these sets are little gems. Having personally used CMK resin upgrade kits previously, they generally go into the designated kits with few problems, and when painted up give a really nice looking detailed finished product. Both of these sets are highly recommended for the Harrier builders.
