Iliad Design of Canada has released a new decal sheet for Roden's 1/48 scale Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing.

Six marking options are offered:

  • Beechcraft D17S in RAF markings finished in Dark Earth and Dark Green upper surfaces with Trainer Yellow beneath.

  • Beechcraft UC-43 finished in US markings with Olive Drab upper surfaces, Neutral Grey below and white Pacific Theatre markings on the tail.

  • Beechcraft UC-43 at Wrright Field in July 1944 fininshed in Olive Drab and Neutral Grey. The wings and tail planes appear to have a narrow border of Medium Green 42 sprayed around them.

  • Beechcraft D17A of the Antarctic Service Expedition in 1940, finished in Stearman Vermillion with wings and horizontal stabilisers in Galatea Orange.

  • Beechcraft D17R in service with China's Nationalist Government in 1937, finished in overall white with simple red crosses.

  • Beechcraft D17R in service with China's Nationalist Government now repainted in Dark Green and Light Grey plus full CNAF markings after the highly visible white-painted aircraft were attacked by Japanese fighters.

Instructions are offered over a folded A4 sheet in full colour, with one side plus upper views and notes on the history and camouflage of each option.

Decals are printed perfectly on my sample, and colours look good (even the sometimes tricky RAF Dull Red and the roundel yellow.

Thanks to Iliad Design for the review sample.
