Advantages

Excellent detail; useful optional parts for different poses and aircraft; versatile subject; comprehensive painting instructions.

Disadvantages

Conclusion

Detail is very good, and casting is perfect. There are plenty of great late WWII subjects for this seated pilot too, including Tamiya's 1/32 scale P-51D/K kits and the Hasegawa / Eduard P-47D. Highly Recommended.

Master Details is an American after-market manufacturer that offers accessories and figures for 1/32 aircraft across all eras from WWI to modern.

They have expanded their range of seated pilot figures with this USAAF Fighter Pilot ETO, Late WWII with G-3Anti-G Suit and B-8 Parachute.

The figure is presented in seven perefectly cast grey parts - the torso and legs plus four separate arms - and six more in white metal. The arms may be used in various configurations depending on whether your pilot is holding the control stick (the top of which is cast into the hand of one of the right hands - nice touch), or sitting in a more casual pose.

The white metal parts are four different heads - essentially different combinations of wearing the oxygen mask and goggles - plus a separate A-14 oxygen mask and an oxygen hose too. Being white metal, the oxygen hose may be bent to whatever shape is required.

The white metal parts look a bit rough in the photos but this is not actually the case. Detail is very fine and they will look great as soon as they have received a coat of primer.

The pilot wears the typical late-war USAAF gear including Type C Flying Helmet Pattern 43, AN6530 goggles, B-15 jacket and nylon Type G-3 Anti-G Suit.

Comprehensive instructions for assembly and painting are included.

I used a Master seated RAF pilot in my 1/32 scale Mustang a few years ago, and I was impressed with its detail and authenticity. It was fun to paint too.

This new release is presented to an equally high standard.

Detail is very good, and casting is perfect. There are plenty of great subjects for this seated pilot too, including Tamiya's 1/32 scale P-51D/K kits and the Hasegawa / Eduard P-47D.

Highly Recommended.
